From a dumping site to a library lawn
If you've lived in Enfield for a while, you can't but be pleased by the new Town Library and its environs.
The space in front of the library is now a haven for workers on their lunch break and children who enjoy the fountain. In the winter there is a skating rink and in the summer you may chance upon a craft fair.
The modern glass extension to the library seems to sit comfortably in the wildlife gardens that have been created along the perimeter fence.
Who'd have thought that, not long ago, this was a dirty, litter-strewn field where Enfield Grammar students used to go to settle their differences!
Well done Enfield. Keep up the good work!
Regeneration Skills Project – The Young Apprentices
Before it’s
time to start the controlled assessment campaign, we are going to do an
Apprentice-style activity to practise using some of the media technology you
will need for your coursework.
You will work
in teams of 2 or 3 people and you will have three weeks to complete all tasks.
Tasks
1.) Conducting primary research using
Survey Monkey.
2.) Taking and uploading photographs.
3.) Building a blog.
4.) Filming and editing a short film and
publishing it on your blog.
5.) Using the Coomber machine to create a
voice over for your film.
6.) Presenting a pitch.
Brief
The area behind the Lower School Gym is wasted. It is neither
a car-park nor a playground. With a little investment and some imagination it
could be regenerated to become a useful or much-loved resource for students.
Your task is to conduct research to find out what Lower
School students would like the area to be. You are then going to build a
website to show your findings and present your plan of action. The website
should include at least one photograph of
the area in its current state and a description or mock up diagram /
image of what the place will be like once it has been transformed. Your website will also include a very short
film (20 – 30 seconds) with voice over.
Once you have finished you will present your work to the
class as a pitch.
The most professional
project will win Starbucks and cakes for the winning team.
Everyone else will be fired!
